I guess I was hoping this doc would have a LOT more emphasis and information on how these people live simple lifestyles that's easy on the pocketbook and the environment. Tiny houses in the smallest versions have about the same amount of space as a large RV or railroad car, and a tiny house can be just as luxurious or as simple as you like. It's just out -- I haven't seen it yet -- but the 14 customer reviews on Amazon are all five-star. To interview Derek "Deek" Diedricksen, tiny shelter/house/cabin builder (recently featured in the NY Times/New York Times ("The $200 Microhouse")- and author of "Humble Homes, Simple Shacks, Cozy Cottages, Ramshackle Retreats, Funky Forts (and Whatever The Heck Else We Could Squeeze In Here!)" . Now comes the eagerly awaited "Tiny Homes: Simple Shelter," with 1,300 photos and 150 or so builders in a diversity of styles. Kahn's latest book, Tiny Homes: Simple Shelter (Shelter Publications; $26.95), explores the recent boom in houses under 500 square feet, a movement lead in part by Jay Shafer, the Sebastopol-based owner of Tumbleweed Houses.
